Malcolm Hanson is available for talks, formal speeches and personal appearances. Below is a selection of the most
requested.
From the “scandalous” statue of Sir Mathew Wilson to Henry VIII’s favourite niece, the beautiful Lady Eleanor Brandon of Skipton Castle; and from the great dynasty of the Clifford's to lowly “Piggy Sam” and his hovel of forty pigs, Malcolm relates events spanning 500 years.
Skipton must have more ghosts per square foot
than anywhere else in the world! Two years of investigations have revealed
enough strange stories to fill several books and here Malcolm recounts the
very best of them.
"Cock-ups" and "pratfalls" a-plenty. All the things that could go wrong - and DID go wrong in the first five years of being a tourist guide, public speaker and school lecturer on local history. You will LAUGH until you fall over. This talk has been described as "...a real tonic for the cold winter nights - book him now!"
In the spring of 2002 Harbour Pictures came to the Dales to take the story of the Rylstone W.I. “Calendar Girls” and turn it into a major film. Malcolm was an “extra” in the film, playing the part of a reporter. However, four days “on set” threw up some hilarious situations, all quietly observed by the watchful eye of the local tourist guide.
From his childhood days on the hills near Wuthering Heights, to the wildness of the Rock and Roll years. As a musician, writer, recording artiste, and latterly creator and promoter of the National Battle Of The Bands competition and the MANO-NOMA International Music Festivals of the late 90s.
If you can’t do the walk, then Malcolm brings the walk to you! Through words and descriptions, Malcolm will take you on an oral tour of Skipton, visiting all the points of interest on his guided walk “The Skipton Experience.”
Again,
if you can’t do the walk, then Malcolm brings the walk to you! Through
words and descriptions,
Malcolm will take you on an oral tour of “The Dark Side of
Haworth”
with strange tales of murder, ghosts, highwaymen and one or two ‘very
dodgy people!’
The idea of creating
